What a crazy night. Some pretty cool things have happened as of the last post. First, I sold my Fury. 9M was just too tempting and I have a feeling the price will go back down soon. I could be wrong, but 9M for an ammy seems a bit excessive. It took me a long time to come to that conclusion, but I just went with it. That cash can be better used leveling other skills.
After a decent trip to Kurasks, I got a leaf bladed sword drop and 85 Slayer! I was pretty excited about the level as I can now kill Abby Demons. I took a quick trip there just to see what they’re like before continuing on with Slayer. I killed my 185 Gargoyles and got my first Ferocious Ring along with a Granite Maul (311k! wow they went up!). After that, I was assigned around 150 Waterfiends. I was about 8k to a Strength level so I decided to go back to Abby Demons before prepping for Waterfiends.
There I leveled up to 95 Strength and got my first ever Whip drop! I was pretty excited. The whip was the first big purchase I ever made in the game. I bought it when all I did was sit on the dock fishing away the days. I had sold enough sharks to the pkers at Edge to save my first million gp. After a little more saving, I bought it from one of my first friends in the game. It cost 1.6M then and I’ve had it since. I was only even 65 Attack then and couldn’t even use it! I worked so hard for it though it was kind of cool getting it as a drop. Also, before I sold it for 3.6M (gone up a bit over the years), I put it in the bank just so I could see that inventory have that little yellow “2” next to it.
The drop aside, I think Abby Demons are kind of fun. They’re really not very dangerous as their required slayer level would have you think. Waterfiends are much harder in my opinion. With a Bunyip you can just stay there, max damage is 8 I believe. They just teleport you a little bit away, but it just makes it look like you’re dancing with them.
After that I helped a friend on a clue and got a little bored. Everyone was busy and I didn’t feel like spending hours on a long trip so I figured I’d go solo godwars. Kril (Zammy) is the one I like but for some reason I didn’t feel like messing with magic defense and anti-poison. I loaded my tortuga up with rocktails and decided to go to Bandos. I had been riding high off the level and the whip drop and gmaul drop. I remember what Merch had written that someone told her about luck and not logging out while on a lucky streak. I started killing goblins and got my kc to 40 and went up to the boss door and… forgot I was in a lootshare world. There were about 4 people in there who looked like they weren’t going anywhere anytime soon. At this point I decided to tweak the luck/logout thing and decide that it doesn’t apply to world hopping. So I went to a few worlds, being sure to type “doesn’t count” in each one before leaving. I was still at my computer, it still counts!
I walk in and hit 3 big hits on him and get him down to half health. Then Graardor started to get offended and hit me harder. He got me pretty low on hp a few times before finishing him off. I actually had on a ring of life this time, and I hate those things. I swear by my ring of wealth, but this time I didn’t bring it. I finished him off and then went to pick up my drop, Bandos Tassets! I didn’t even bother killing the generals, just pick up my loot and tele’d out. I had been wanting tassets for the longest time now! I’ve been going back and forth in my head debating if the str bonus is worth the insane price tag. 24m? Insane! Now I have them for free! No wonder its always a pain finding an open Bandos world.
After that a friend wanted to solo Graardor. I made sure he was prepared and followed him to the spot. Watched him get his kc and made him wait for me to get mine. If he died I was going to run in and bless. I watched at the door, he got his kill and left. I went in and got mine and left. No good drops, but I wasn’t going to complain after the kind of day I had.
I like going to bosses because I think its fun to fight something big. Ridiculous drops aren’t really ever motivation, but wow, they are cool. I didn’t even have to use my A-K, I have to say it was a good day.

2009 Comes A'blazin in
Happy New Year everyone! The new year started out in an interesting way. We had a clan party for 3 members who got their Quest Capes a couple weeks prior and one Cooking Skillcape. We had a fun time in the deuling ring and then set out to GWD for a Bandos run. This was my first time, but felt confident being that we had about 7 people. Our tank got Ring of Life tele’d and the general decided to turn his attention onto me. We soon found out why when all the other worlds were full, this one was empty – lag. Despite getting my HP down to the low teens several times, I managed to survive, clicking furiously of course. I got a Rune Platebody as a reward. We did another 2 kills until we had a death and everyone else was lagging hard so we decided to call it quits. The person who died didn’t want to go back in and reclaim his stuff, being that he lost nothing really valuable. A valiant attempt by everyone though. I wouldn’t mind going back, now that I know what I’m getting into.
I’ve continued on with Firemaking, getting my level to 90 yesterday. I took some breaks to do a few stars, make staves, etc. Mainly I just want it to 92, get the adze, then not deal with it for a while. I was at my wit’s end yesterday burning maples. To speed things up I sold my Dragon Woodcutting Axe and used the money from that to buy some Magic Logs. I justified this by the Adze being free, but the equivalent of the D Axe. That makes somewhat sense, right? Anyway, I just have to burn about 1,200 of them to get to 91. Sounds much better than 2,800 Maples.
A friend was working on spinning Flax to get a Crafting level she was close to. It’s decent money and I only need to do about 1k for a level myself so I thought I’d join. Made about 100,000gp relatively quick and got myself to 80 Crafting. Glories here I come! I’ve had a few Dragonstones sitting in my bank waiting for just that.
I went penguin hunting yesterday as well. Riod’s chat got flooded with spammers and somehow I got kicked & banned in the mess. I had about 6 done, but knew the ones I was missing were on Lunar, Dragontooth, Nietz and one in the wildy. I don’t really understand the people who beg for updates on penguins on places like Dragontooth Island. The place is so tiny you can almost see the entire island in one screen. Anyways, used those and I got 64 construction. Finally a telescope with a window for stars that is less than a half hour. I also built myself a Teak Armor Case which I can’t wait to use to free up some bankspace.
I have less than 100k xp to a level in about 12 skills, so hopefully I’ll be able to add to the total fairly easily. I won’t be able to play much this week, so all those levels might have to wait a bit. I leave for Cancun early Thursday morning and get back Sunday night. I can’t wait to lay in the warm sun, even if it does mean I have to miss the Eagles/Giants game. Hopefully the pilot will give us updates.

PvP is back! And I am… pretty indifferent. I never PK’d, not my thing. I am glad that the ones that want to now have the option. Maybe this will clear out the forums of all the “BRING BACK PK AND WILDY NOW PLOX” threads, but I seem to doubt it. People will always find flaws in the new updates. In all fairness, I just want the Glory glitch fixed so I don’t constantly have a spear sticking out of my chest.
I’m sorry for not posting in a bit, work has had me spending more time in my car than at the computer. Although, I really have no excuse, if Vaskor can blog from Siberia, than I should be able to do it from a hotel in the middle of nowhere MD.
Do you ever feel like you don’t have enough time in the game? This has been happening to me recently. Even when I’ve had a longer amount of time to play per day, my to-do list just seems to keep growing. I’ve been saving money, I think I want to swap my Dragon Chainbody for a Bandos Platebody. I know that’s money that can be used for leveling, as I normally would, I think it will be a good investment. When you get to higher levels, the stat boosts really seem to come into play. An extra +3 or +4 here and there can justify an extra million gp. If it allows you to consistently hit just 1hp higher than normal, and you’re trying to level somewhere in the 90s in Attack, Strength, Defense or Range, it adds up. With pots and prayer, along with the armor bonuses, you hit 3hp higher, think of the hours you can save in leveling! In that time, you can easily make enough cash to justify the price difference. At least, that’s how I justified it to myself. Maybe my recent Slayer kick has corrupted me.
Back to what I was saying, I’ve felt rushed recently in the game. I’m doing it to myself, and I realize that, its just this weird justification thing going on in my head. Why would I pay for 1k Nature Runes when I can just make them myself? But I know why, its to have that time I’m putting into mining ess and crafting the runes back. I just feel the need to save the money and do it on my own. Maybe the recent state of the economy has carried over into my game playing. I’ve been trying to get a lot of Crafting experience this month which has led me to making a lot of orbs (thank god for Superglass Make!). Since they’re made, I might as well as enchant them, right? This might be another reason why I’m playing like this. If the process if half done, might as well complete it. I love deconstruction, taking seemingly basic things, breaking them down to their simple ingredients then building them back up in an entirely new way, but still having its base core is a fascinating process to me. It might be that it’s the processes that I enjoy, not their products. I subconsciously do the painful tasks of mining ess and making molten glass because that’s what I actually enjoy and the end product is the justification to my madness. I take some sort of demented sense of pride in knowing the things I use daily are things I’ve created. Some things I will easily pay for if they are not readily available. Take drops for instance. I’m not going to only use armor I’ve received as drops. I’d still be wearing a Rune Chainbody if that were the case. I don’t even want to guess the number of Dusties I’d have to kill for the D-Chain I wear now. But something as simple as collecting “x”, modifying it, then making it into the product seems so easy, that why shouldn’t I be doing it? I’ve sacrificed peace of mind for a procedural addiction. Just say No, kids.
I have tickets to game 6, but if the Phillies win the NLCS tonight in game 5, that’s just fine by me. Baseball also is taking a toll on my game playing. Half paying attention to the game, half on baseball leads me to doing more menial tasks that require less attention. I’m sure that will change after the Phillies win the World Series :)

We all have our little things that motivate us. For me, recently it’s been hiscores. I know it might seem petty, but I love watching my rank change. I like seeing how positions fluctuate week to week. I love the contrast between the member and free to play skills. I got a lot of levels this weekend, I just happened to be close to a few and banged them all out at once. I love how 74 Farming ranks you at 27,000 but 74 Woodcutting doesn’t even get you under 500,000. I planted my first Magic Trees with the use of a garden pie. As cool as they look fully grown, I kind of think they look awesome as half grown saplings. Can’t wait to get the xp from checking health later on tonight.
I’m kind of disappointed with a few recent clan events. Our Bandos trip this weekend was cancelled due to only about four people showing up. Only a few have been taking part in training Agility as well. Even though I really don’t like cb that much, I try to make all the trips for a number of reasons. First, the more the better. With a large group, chances are you’ll be perfectly safe. You can stay for multiple kills and if anyone needs something, everyone’s willing to share. Second, I’ve done some things that I wouldn’t have done on my own. New music is always a plus. I’m just willing to try anything new, as long as I know its safe. Last, I just like to hang out. Everyone’s friends, its more like a group in that sense, opposed to other clans that are rank and cb level based for Clan Wars or what not.
It seems skilling kind of takes a back burner sometimes. People get upset no one shows up for cb trips, but no one even cares about even a mass skilling event. A lot of skills people find boring and much improved when you have good company. And think, if you do it now you won’t have to do it later. It’s just disheartening when you come up with a seemingly good idea, and no one pays much attention. At least just feign interest…
Ok sorry, gripe over. I’ve been really struggling with bankspace recently. I still haven’t done the circus yet because I know I have no room for whatever items it gives me. Next month is Crafting and I’ve been hoarding all my uncuts and battlestaves for then. That should free up some space, but still have to wait about 2 weeks to do it. I see they’ve come out with the follow up to the Wildy quest today. I’m sure that’ll end up taking even more bankspace. With so many things added just in the past couple months, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an expansion on the horizon. I guess the real basis of it is that I need to get my Construction up. When I got 60 Hunting this weekend it left me only having 2 skills left in the 50s. 58 Runecrafting and 57 Construction. I keep my RC up so I can use my tears for Construction. It kills me spending an arm and a leg without having any real way around it. I guess I could just use limestone, but where’s the fun in that?
Phils sweep the Brewers! As great as it is that they are tied for the wildcard, I would rather they won the division and once again the Mets fail to make the playoffs. Let’s see if that can happen, ok? It was sad to see the Jets fail to beat the cheating empire that is the Patriots. It’s awesome when your team plays on Monday nights, but it makes Sunday seem a little off. So tonight I’m going to hunker down, play a little RS. Watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles then watch my Eagles destroy those wretched Cowboys in their own home. Go birds!

My CPU is a neural net processor, a learning computer.
The new distractions are working out to be just that. I’ve only spied on about 3 penguins, but I think I’ve spied on the same ones about 20 times. No matter where it is, it seems to always say that I’ve got that one already. It’s increasingly hard to tuck myself away at say Hellhounds and finish my slayer task because every 2 hours or so, I’m running off chasing a star. I just can’t seem to pass one up. All of that quick and easy Mining experience is too precious. It’s not about the rewards, although they are pretty awesome. I think it works out to a little over 90k worth of cash & items, but for me its about the mining experience. That and the Smithing xp from the gold ore helps, as well as the time it saves me running to the Abyss to craft Cosmics for enchanting jewelry or bolts. We have a pretty good system down. About 10 mins before it hits, we do a head count of who’s in and what spots they’re going to wait at. We try to keep one person at the telescope too because once we know it has landed, we know we can leave the spot we’re at and run to the next one. I’ll say on average, I get about 6k Mining xp from each one. Do that a couple times a day, it adds up. Not bad for just a few minutes of work.
I finally cashed in 1k Agility tickets! It seemed like it couldn’t come fast enough. It basically doubled my overall Agility xp and got me from level 62 to level 69. I headed to Ape Atoll to finish off the remaining experience to get me to 70. *Kicks Dusty Key into the trash* Turns out my home world is where everyone does the Agility course there. Kind of amusing seeing so many little monkeys running in circles. I’ve also come to the conclusion that I’m terrible at that course. I guess you get used to it, but people were lapping me over and over. I guess I need to get better at clicking. And Jax, I might take you up on that offer :)
After doing a pretty awful clue, I finished my task of Hellhounds (which are so much easier to get to now!) and got my first Dust Devil assignment. A friend showed me the way to them in the Chaos Tunnels and I quickly got an HP, CB and Slayer level. I was surprised at how relatively easy they were and was able to get through all 120 in just one sitting. Of course, I wasn’t sure what to bring so I just used Pro Melee the whole time since I had a lot of ppots on me. I was entertained by the Red Vamb drops, I’ve never seen anything drop that before. Always good to have a few things around to alch just in case I find myself standing at a bank doing nothing because I can’t decide what to do next.
Also this weekend, a friend took me and some others to my first Godwars boss. We went to Bandos after he pretty much guaranteed our safety. I love it when people are super patient and understanding. It took a while to get us in the proper gear and inventories because 3 of us had never been there before. We got there, got our kill counts and found some people to team up with. It was pretty amusing. We got a few kills, I didn’t get any drops, but that’s ok. It was more about satisfying my curiosity. I did end up dying, but due to my own forgetfulness. I just completely forgot to eat because I was so tied up into what was going on. Thankfully it wasn’t that big of a deal. I saw my grave was blessed, hit up the GE to get some new God Items, went back and got my Kill Count. They gave me the “all clear” and I ran in and got my stuff. The only things I didn’t have the inv space for were just a handful of ppots and Mantas. All of which I was happy to part with to get everything else back. We’re taking an actual clan trip there on Saturday and I’m pretty excited. It’ll be fun to be with all friends and we should be able to last there a while.
Anyways, that’s all the rambling I should do for now. The Sarah Connor Chronicles starts tonight and I have a feeling for that hour I won’t be watchng football or the Philllies. Watch it! Its good to see decent television finally coming back on the air after summer.
