Curious...

Just throwing something out there that was kind of inspired by Icey Dan's video...

The Runescape blogger community is something amazing. There are blogs covering all types of gameplay. Some deal with PK, some are guides, some are journals, some are an amalgamation of everything. The one thing that keeps us together, is the love of the game.

Anyone interested in a gathering/meetup between the people who play this game, blog about it, in any which way, so we can trade ideas, meet each other, etc..?

Maybe have a panel discussion with a moderator, just to see the different viewpoints we all have?

Like a cocktail party, just about the game :) Good idea? Terrible idea?

Good idea but timezones would be a problem.

I am not sure I understood the idea correctly. Are you talking about IRL meeting or a special discussion forum? In either case, I have some doubts. I've been through a few IRL meetings of online communities and it was rather awkward. Plus a lot of bloggers are from other countries! As for a special forum, we can try of course, but majority of bloggers are already on some RS forums (and different ones). Plus we comment on each other blogs, it's kind of does the same thing, right? Finally, somehow inside the game many bloggers naturally end up in Merch Gwyar's Canting Away clan chat, so no need to do anything special there.

After re-reading my answer - it does sound very discouraging... I don't like it this way. In fact, I'll support pretty much any good initiative in the RS blogging community. So if people decide to do something special here, I'll be glad to help.

I think this would be cool if in Runescape, but not if in RL.

I don't mean IRL at all. In game. I know time zones are an issue, but maybe even something just like a house party... We leave comments on everyone's boards, but I know we might not know each other.

I know I've never been in Merch's chat. I've read her site, love it, but I've never met her, so i'd never just join a cc out of nowhere, that's a little forward for a stranger. Which is kind of what I'm getting at, just a get together type thing... Social happy hour maybe?

Some of us know each other, which is amazing. On the other hand, some of us only know of each other, and just like to read each other's sites. It would be cool to meet up with someone you've read for months. If you get my jist. If you can make it, awesome. If you don't want to, no big deal at all. Just think it would be an interesting idea.

Like an in game meet & greet. We can talk about what we like to write about, why we do it, etc, or just get to say hi to each other.

I'd be up for meeting somewhere in-game. Sounds like it might be fun. A house party sounds like a great meeting venue.

As for Canting Away, you (and everyone else) are very welcome. It's a very informal cc, so the main route of entry is to pop in and say 'hi'. We all say 'hi' back and that's it. You're suddenly one of us. It's not like it's organised or anything. :p

I'm certainly open to the idea, though I am still not quite sure what we'd be discussing :-)

Oo I'd go if I could! I'd love a house party :-)

Ah, I misunderstood, sorry. Of course, I am all in for an in game meeting, party or event.

I'm all in for an in-game meeting. I think that runescape blogs like ours hold a lot more value in the runescape community than just normal fansites do like runehq. We could have an in-game meeting or perhaps have an open clan chat for us bloggers, and whenever we log on we can talk to other bloggers. Topics to be discussed would be of things like topics, attracting readers, helping the community, etc. If someone decides to stat a clan chat for bloggers or online meeting, please let me know via a comment on my blog with the word "private:" in front if you want it to be private, cya soon

Hi, sorry about the off topic comment, but I didn't know how else to contact you.

I just wanted to let you know that Runescape 100 has recently relaunched their topsite! Its relaunch includes a brand new Runescape Blog category, in which a Runescape blog like yours would get quite a bit of exposure. I highly recommend joining before lots of others sites do, so you can get maximium exposure.

To check it out just Google "Runescape 100".
